By applying for our job opportunities, you're joining a strategic effort to enhance Singapore's Precision Engineering landscape.
Job Responsibilities:
Design, Drafting, Assembly and Part Modelling:
- Create 2D and 3D models for mechanical components and assemblies based on project specifications.
- Convert conceptual designs or rough sketches into detailed CAD drawings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
- Produce manufacturing drawings with dimensions, material specifications, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
- Design and model parts and subassemblies, ensuring proper fit and function within larger systems.
- Perform virtual assembly checks to identify any potential interference or design conflicts.
- Generate exploded views and animations for assembly instructions and presentations.
Material and Component Selection, Bill of Materials (BOM) Creation:
- Assist in the selection of materials for parts and components, ensuring they meet required specifications and standards.
- Incorporate material properties (e.g., strength, flexibility, weight) into designs and make recommendations based on the intended use of the product.
- Generate and update Bill of Materials (BOM) for assemblies, listing the required materials, quantities, and specifications for production or manufacturing.
Requirements for a CAD Draftman Using SolidWorks CAD Software:
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (including SolidWorks Designer and SolidWorks Simulation).
- Strong understanding of 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and parametric design in SolidWorks.
- Experience in assembly design, part modeling, and creating detailed drawings.
- Knowledge of sheet metal and weldments designs in SolidWorks is an advantage
- Ability to create BOM (Bill of Materials), and understand part tolerances, fits, and clearances.
- Good understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to design.
- Sound knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, additive manufacturing) is a plus.
Experience:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in CAD drafting or mechanical design.
- Experience in designing mechanical parts, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings is required.
- Familiarity with other CAD software (e.g., Catia) is a plus, though SolidWorks expertise is the primary requirement.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot design and drafting issues.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Work closely with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure design accuracy and functionality.
- Communicate any technical issues or design constraints that may arise during the drafting and design process.
Educational Qualifications:
- Minimum ITE or Diploma Technical Certification in CAD drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
