Key Responsibilities:

• Select, set-up, inspect and adjust appropriate tools (basic, specialized machine and advanced variation tools), machines and materials. This includes aligning and securing holding fixtures, accessories and cutting tools onto machines.
• Measure and calculate dimensions and tolerances before confirming specifications with supervisor or engineers. Perform machining duties as instructed by the Supervisor (Machining/Welding/Blasting/Bench Fitting).
• Set controls to regulate machining and monitor the feed and speed of machines during machining process. Machine parts to required specifications. Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled before positioning and fastening them.
• Observe operating machines and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine need of repair. Maintain machines, tools and equipment by cleaning, lubricating and removing foreign matter.
• After machining, measure and examine completed units to detect defects. Confer with Supervisors (Machining/Welding/Blasting/Bench Fitting) to check on machining accuracy and conformance to specifications.
• Support other fabrication work. Innovate and improvise on work procedures using a variety of metalworking machines to quicken and perfect machining of parts.

Requirements / Qualifications:

• NITEC certification or equivalent
• Experienced in operating specialized machining equipment and tools safely as well as experience in troubleshooting.
• Good knowledge of various machine specifications and measurements. Good judgment and ability to measure accurately.
• Basic knowledge in machining methods and mechanics.
